A guide dog who was trying to save his blind owner was hit by a bus

Every day, we witness the incredible bravery and dedication of our four-legged companions. Take today’s story, for example, about an exceptionally determined guide dog who risked his own life.

In Brewster, Massachusetts, Audrey Stone, a blind woman, relies on her guide dog, Figo, to navigate her surroundings. Figo is her constant companion, helping her move safely through her daily life.

For those who are visually impaired or completely blind, having someone or, in this case, a loyal pet by their side is vital. Without this support, they would be unable to detect potential dangers or be fully aware of their surroundings.

It was on an otherwise ordinary day that the crucial role of a guide dog became undeniable. As Audrey and Figo were crossing the street, a school bus suddenly approached at high speed. The driver, not noticing Audrey right away, posed an immediate threat.

Sensing the danger, Figo acted without hesitation. He threw himself toward the oncoming vehicle, attempting to shield Audrey and lessen the impact, protecting her from harm.

Moments later, police and an ambulance arrived at the scene to tend to Audrey. Despite his severe injuries and the pain he was enduring, Figo didn’t utter a sound. His only concern was being reunited with his beloved owner as quickly as possible.

At the hospital, Audrey was diagnosed with a fractured right elbow and a few bruises, while her loyal companion, Figo, suffered a deep laceration on his paw.

Thankfully, this story has a happy ending, reminding us just how extraordinary our furry friends can be, especially when we need them most!
