A group of cyclists on their regular trail came across a cardboard box dumped by the bridge, causing them to brake suddenly.
While discarded boxes by the roadside aren’t out of the ordinary, it was the unusual sounds coming from inside that caught their attention.
Curious about what it could be, the cyclists dismounted their bikes and went to inspect the box.
What they found inside was devastating, leaving them in disbelief at how anyone could do something so cruel.
Wasting no time, they immediately grabbed their phones and called for help.
Inside the cardboard box, the cyclists discovered nine helpless puppies cruelly abandoned and struggling to survive. Six of the puppies were barely two weeks old, their eyes still sealed shut. All of them were severely infested with fleas, crying out in hunger and discomfort.
The thought of these tiny, defenseless puppies being left all alone in a world they couldn’t yet comprehend is deeply heartbreaking. Abandoned to suffer, they were deprived of the warmth and care they desperately needed at such a young age.
Thankfully, the compassionate cyclists took the time to investigate and seek help, offering the puppies a fighting chance at survival.
On the morning of March 11, the PAWSsion Project caretakers were notified by the cyclists, who had witnessed this heartbreaking scene firsthand.
