Chance was a neglected and abandoned puppy, discovered in a pile of rubbish, barely clinging to life. For months, he scavenged for scraps, struggling to survive, but severe malnutrition left him on the brink of death. Curled up in despair, he had all but given up hope. That was when a passerby spotted him and decided to act, snapping a photo and sharing it on Facebook, pleading for help. Denisse Cheuca Garcia, the co-founder of D&A Animal Rescue, saw the post and rushed to the scene.
When she arrived, Denisse found Chance in a dire state—weak, injured, and too feeble to move. Though frightened, the pup allowed her to take him to the vet. The examination revealed a host of serious health issues, including anemia and heartworm disease. Chance required a blood transfusion, and his wounds were carefully treated. Though wary and anxious, he gradually began to recover under the care of his rescuers. A few days later, Chance was strong enough to leave the clinic and was brought home by Denisse and her husband, where his healing journey continued.
Although Chance’s physical health improved, he remained deeply fearful, flinching at any touch. However, with time, care, and patience, he slowly began to trust people again. Now, Chance is much healthier and steadily recovering, though he still waits for a forever family to adopt him.
