“We have no idea where he came from.”
When Shelly Lisi first heard her dogs barking outside, she wasn’t too worried. But when the barking persisted, she decided to step outside and see what was causing the commotion.
“We live in a rural area with a farm field on one side and a horse farm behind us, so it’s common to see animals crossing the field,” Lisi shared with The Dodo. “Typically, they scare off whatever they’re barking at pretty quickly.”
However, after 20 minutes of nonstop barking, she realized something was different this time. As soon as she stepped outside, the reason became clear.
In the grass, a tiny kitten stood, gazing up at her dogs.
“I was a bit startled, and the kitten was clearly scared but showed some spunk,” Lisi said. “As soon as I approached, the dogs settled down — they were more curious than anything else. I managed to pick up the kitten and got him into a crate in our garage to check him over.”
To her surprise, the kitten seemed to be in good health, apart from being a bit underweight. Once the kitten was safe, Lisi began searching for his family, asking neighbors and reviewing footage from her outdoor cameras, but she found no clues.
“We have no idea where he came from,” Lisi said.
After the kitten had some time to settle down, his true personality emerged. He became a lively, cheerful little guy who quickly bonded with the family’s dogs, getting along with them perfectly. Eventually, he found his forever home through adoption.
This tiny, lost kitten might have been confused, but his brave encounter with two big dogs ultimately led him to his happily-ever-after.
