Fahrudin Caki Bravo, the founder of the Bosnian rescue organization Saving Stray Animals, was on his way to the shelter when he noticed a forlorn little dog by the side of the road. He stopped to check on the dog’s condition, and though he could sense the dog had been abandoned, seeing him up close was deeply distressing. The dog, terrified by the presence of the rescuer, tried to escape but struggled due to injured rear legs. Instead, he attempted to hide by dragging himself behind a shrub.
Determined to help, Caki followed the dog, whom he later named Goldy. He gently tried to calm Goldy and assure him that he meant no harm. Despite the dog’s initial fear, Caki managed to comfort him and carry him to safety. Caki decided to take Goldy to the vet before bringing him home, as he was clearly in pain and needed immediate medical attention. To provide comfort, Caki let Goldy sit on his lap, knowing it would make him feel secure.
At the veterinary clinic, it was revealed that Goldy’s injuries had been present for at least two weeks. The exact cause of his injuries was unknown, but they were severe enough to leave him paralyzed. His nerves had been damaged, and his genitalia was significantly injured. While it was too late to save his legs, Goldy’s overall health was stable, which gave Caki hope for his recovery.
Caki went above and beyond to support Goldy, raising funds for his medical care and even constructing a custom wheelchair for him. He cared for Goldy until he was ready to find a forever home. A month after his rescue, Goldy was adopted by Jasmina Gerstner. From the moment they met, Goldy bonded with Jasmina, and he was overjoyed to have found a loving home.
Goldy’s story is a testament to the power of compassion and dedication. Thanks to Caki’s tireless efforts and Jasmina’s love, Goldy was given a second chance at life, and he will now enjoy a happy and fulfilling future.
Thank you for your care and affection for Goldy!
