FORT WORTH – Thanks to an anonymous Good Samaritan, eight puppies are now safe after being discovered in a sealed box on a Fort Worth highway.

According to the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT), the Good Samaritan saw someone abandon a plastic box, sealed with tape, on the side of the highway near 1187 and I-35. When he noticed a crack in the box with a puppy’s nose poking through, he quickly rescued the eight puppies and brought them to HSNT’s main facility on Lancaster Ave. in Fort Worth.

“Our medical team promptly assessed and cared for all eight puppies upon their arrival,” said Cassie Davidson, HSNT’s Public Relations Manager. “They have all survived, and our team is carefully monitoring their health and has moved them to a quiet area for further observation.” The Good Samaritan chose to remain anonymous, with Davidson noting, “They simply did what they believed was right.”

Davidson added, “The sight of eight helpless puppies confined in a locked and taped box, discarded like trash, is a harsh reminder of the troubling realities in our world.”

On Thursday, the Humane Society of North Texas announced that all the puppies have been cleared for adoption. If you’re interested in adopting, join the Puppy Palooza Adoption event at PetSmart in Montgomery Plaza on Friday, Dec. 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
