Animal abandonment is a significant and escalating issue, frequently resulting from owners’ lack of preparation and responsibility. Often, animals are deserted in various locations with no regard for their welfare. One morning, a woman stumbled upon a surprising and peculiar sight: an abandoned puppy placed inside a diaper box, left at the entrance of her store. The woman did not stand idly by; she reached out for assistance, forever transforming the puppy’s life.
Robin, a local business owner in Buffalo, was taken by surprise when she discovered a five-week-old Pitbull puppy abandoned outside her store. The puppy, later named Frankie, had been left in a Pampers diaper box. Startled by the situation, Robin quickly picked up the puppy and reached out to West Side Cat Rescue, a local shelter she had previously collaborated with.
Jamie Mulligan, the founder of the shelter, responded to the report and arranged for Frankie to be brought in to ensure he received the necessary care. The puppy was taken to the vet for an initial check-up and, despite some challenges, was found to be in good general health. Given the overcrowding at other shelters, the staff decided to keep Frankie at their facility, welcoming him with care and attention.
After being provided with food, a leash, and a collar, Frankie was ready to find a foster home. Jamie’s daughter, who frequently assists at the shelter, chose to adopt Frankie. Now named Percy, the puppy is thriving in his new home, where he is cherished and cared for by his new family, leaving his difficult past behind.
