Aesthetic qualities seldom truly define beauty. When we peel back the surface, we all share similar traits, and what truly matters are our inner feelings.
However, some people in Lucky’s life could only see her based on her outward appearance, which was a real tragedy.
Lucky was born with a major facial deformity and was given to a rescue organization after being rescued from a puppy mill. Finding him a home proved difficult, but when people finally met him, they were amazed by what they saw.
Lucky was eventually adopted after being shuffled from one family to another and enduring mistreatment. His first family in Austin kept him outside constantly because he didn’t get along with their pets, but fortunately, he was securely tied to a tree.
He needed proper nourishment and a secure place to rest, but he was neglected and forgotten. The love Lucky truly deserved was never bestowed upon him.
When the family decided to move, they chose to give Lucky up, clearly having no intention of bringing him along. Lucky was evidently not considered part of their family.
After being adopted again, Lucky’s new family soon abandoned him. The unfortunate puppy, indeed, lived up to his name in the worst way.
Then a social media post changed everything! A shelter worker took Lucky to the groomer, and Jamie Hult, who saw photos of the freshly groomed Lucky posted online by a volunteer, was immediately captivated. She was eager to meet him and even considered adopting him right away.
Coincidentally, Jamie was connected to my network of dog rescuers, so I called her immediately to inquire about the puppy. Jamie was quoted by iHeartdogs saying, “I don’t want to foster him; I want to adopt that dog.”
Sadly, Lucky was in poor health and required costly veterinary treatment, suffering from heartworms, fleas, and being underweight. However, Jamie didn’t let this deter her. She was ready to invest both her heart and her finances to help him.
Lucky received top-notch medical care and made a complete recovery, even though there was still a lot of progress to be made!
Along with his new identity came a new home, lifestyle, and self-image.
I named him Beaux Tox because it seemed fitting given his need for Botox. We value beauty in all its forms. I don’t use Botox myself due to the high costs associated with caring for my dog.
What Beaux needs most is Jamie’s perspective and approach! Do you disagree?
A full year has gone by since the couple’s joyous wedding. Beaux has grown into a strong, vibrant young dog leading a happy life. This once-adorable puppy will no longer face lonely nights in shelters, days spent tied to trees, or judgments based solely on his appearance.
