Following his adoption by actor Dave Bautista, a 3-month-old pit bull puppy with a troubled past will now want for nothing.
Upon hearing about Sage’s plight, the former wrestler, who has a deep affection for pit bulls, quickly reached out to the shelter to offer help.
Sage was brought to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay (HSTB) after a compassionate passerby found him scavenging trash in a local cemetery.
When the woman noticed the adorable puppy had a metal chain around her neck, she quickly took her to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay (HSTB) for help.
At HSTB, Sage was examined by the medical team while happily wagging her tail. She was then scheduled for surgery to remove the chain.
The shelter also discovered that Sage had overgrown nails and skin issues in addition to the chain. The extent of her mistreatment left us astonished, according to the homeless shelter’s report.
David Bautista was among the many who expressed a desire to care for the adorable puppy or showed interest in adopting her if she pulled through.
Outraged by the abuse inflicted on the defenseless pup, David pledged a personal reward of $5,000 to anyone who provided information leading to an arrest and conviction. Additionally, the person responsible for capturing the abuser would receive a total reward of $7,500, combining $1,500 from HSTB, $5,000 from David Bautista, and $1,500 from Alvarez Injury Law.
David, known for his tough demeanor, was moved to tears as he watched the dog run toward him. His stern exterior softened as he laughed and smiled broadly when Sage approached.
As soon as he gently petted her head, a deep bond was formed between them. David isn’t the only one thrilled to welcome his newest family member.
Sage, now cradled in her new dad’s arms, radiates pure joy.

Now named Penny, the young pup will join Dave’s two other rescued pit bulls. In an Instagram video introducing Penny to his followers, Dave said, “She’s about to have the best puppy life ever.”
