Life can be incredibly harsh for stray animals. Without a shelter or safe haven, they are left vulnerable to all weather conditions.
While we’ve heard many stories of dogs suffering through the cold and the compassionate businesses that offered them warmth, it’s also important to remember that canines can suffer in extreme heat. On one particularly scorching day, a local business decided to let a stray dog inside to help it cool down.
In Mexico, where temperatures soared to 104°F, a stray dog was seen visiting a local market regularly.
“He has been coming around for the past few days,” a store employee shared with The Dodo. “We think he was abandoned by his owner and came to us for help.”
“We could only offer him food, water, and some toys from the store that we bought with our own money.”
However, on this particularly hot day, they decided to do more:
They opened the doors and allowed the dog to come inside to escape the heat!
The dog seemed to truly enjoy the break from the scorching heat, settling down on the store’s aisle floor for a well-deserved nap.
“We let him in because the weather outside was so harsh,” the cashier shared. “We felt sorry for him, and he seems to really enjoy being here.”
The kindness of the staff did not go unnoticed. A customer named Adolfo Pazzi Ahumada, who was there to buy milk, decided to purchase a treat for the dog.
“I was moved by what the dog had endured,” Adolfo told The Dodo. “But now he’s getting the care and affection he deserves.”
A big thank you to this store for offering the dog a place to cool off! Such a small gesture of kindness made a significant difference to this stray.
