Despite only being a year old, Petey held the unfortunate title of longest resident at the North Carolina county shelter. The dedicated staff at SPCA Wake did everything they could to increase his chances of finding a forever home, including posting his picture online with hopes of catching the eye of a loving family.
SPCA Wake wasn’t about to give up on finding Petey his forever home. They knew the right family was out there, so they posted a new picture of him, hoping it would catch someone’s eye. And their persistence paid off! A family saw Petey’s picture and felt an instant connection. They couldn’t resist his soulful gaze and playful spirit. They knew Petey was the perfect addition to their family.
Without hesitation, they rushed to the shelter and welcomed Petey into their loving arms. Social media then exploded with heartwarming pictures of Petey settling into his new life. There he was, cuddling contentedly with his human family, or perhaps playfully wrestling with a new furry sibling. But the most heartwarming image of all was a close-up of Petey, sprawled out on a cozy blanket, a giant grin plastered across his happy face.
