Mister customizes his kayak to accommodate his cherished adventure companions

The older man also enjoyed playing with his two Golden Retrievers.

Kayaking enthusiast David Bahnson, a renowned health expert, decided to involve his pets in his activities since they accompany him on all his leisure adventures.

Susie was the first dog to accompany Bahnson, but later Ginger, another Golden Retriever, joined them and was warmly accepted by David. As a result, it became quite common to see a man paddling a kayak with two pets by his side.

David and his wife are avid dog lovers, so Ginger and Susie seem to have enjoyed a very happy life. For the couple, having a pet feels like adding a new member to the family.

“When Ginger came, I just made another hole. It’s similar to a triple kayak, but without footrests, making it perfect for a dog,” the doctor remembered.

The dogs were trained to climb naturally, and their strong bond was a result of their breed’s high intelligence when given commands. They were seamlessly integrated into the activity without any extra help.

When they reached the shore, the dogs would disembark from the kayak, but David always made sure they never ventured into deep water.

“I deeply value my dogs and take great pleasure in training them and the activity. We’ve covered many miles together with our dogs, who simply love to travel,” David shared.

As time passed, David’s two canine companions eventually passed away. In their memory, David and his wife, who have a strong love for dogs, decided to adopt new puppies. They hope these new pets will also be able to join them on their kayaking adventures.
