Family Dog Insists on Joining Newborn Baby’s First Photoshoot – And the Photos Are Adorable

Bentley Madsen was the first “child” for Brandon and Kelly. Naturally, Bentley wasn’t a human baby; he became a part of their family in 2017 as their beloved pet.

Since Bentley was like a child to the Washington, D.C. couple, Tyler, their first actual baby, stole the spotlight when he was born in February last year. Amusingly, when Brandon and Kelly decided to do a photoshoot with their newborn, Bentley insisted on being part of the fun.

Kelly described Bentley, a 5-year-old goldendoodle, as “goofy, funny, smart, devoted, and affectionate.” His unique personality is unmistakable, especially his inability to catch a ball.

However, when Tyler was born, they were initially hesitant to introduce their new baby to their playful furry companion.

Bentley got accustomed to Tyler’s scent by being given a blanket and hat from the hospital. “Two days after coming home, we allowed Bentley to meet and sniff Tyler while we showered him with affection. That was undoubtedly the beginning of their friendship.”

Initially, Bentley was very curious about Tyler, often sniffing him whenever he cried. The couple nicknamed Bentley their “baby monitor” as he often sensed Tyler’s discomfort before they noticed it themselves.

When Tyler eventually learned to toss bits of food to Bentley, their bond deepened even more. After that, Bentley was always nearby, whether Tyler was napping or playing with his parents.

The photoshoot soon followed.

“We knew we wanted to capture the newborn stage in photos,” Kelly said. Although they decided to skip hiring a photographer and do it themselves, Bentley wasn’t about to miss out on the action.

“We had everything ready, and as soon as Tyler was positioned, Bentley showed up!” Kelly recalled. Bentley was always beside Tyler as a baby, accustomed to being the center of attention and frequently photographed.

Regardless of where they placed Tyler, Bentley had to be next to him or rest his head on him. The mother stated that Bentley and their son share an “undeniable bond.”

A year has passed since that photo session. When Tyler celebrated his first birthday last February, his parents had documented his entire year in photos, including one for his birthday. And who was right there next to Tyler? Naturally, Bentley!

The mother remarked on the blossoming bond between the child and the dog, “Bentley and Tyler’s adventures are just beginning!” She added that Tyler’s first word will likely be “Bentley.”
