One January morning, a staff member came to work and discovered a cow tethered to a shrub outside the Louisiana SPCA. The small puppy was initially startled when the nuns took him in, clearly confused about the situation.
NeNe Lewis from the Louisiana SPCA shared with The Dodo that the puppy was “fairly anxious” and would growl softly when encountering new faces. However, when offered treats or spoken to in a soothing tone, he would calm down. Given that he was found tied to a hedge, his reaction was quite understandable.
Over time, Cow began to adjust to his new life at the sanctuary. The staff had been tirelessly searching for the perfect new home for him for the past two months, but they hadn’t found anything better than the family he had originally belonged to.
Meanwhile, a police officer took in an injured puppy who had been abandoned after saving her life.
When Cow was discovered by the monks in March, his family was actively searching for him. They were overjoyed to learn that he had been cared for and was safe, after initially being reported missing and ending up at the sanctuary.
