Today was a special day for Rubi, my sweet dog. It was her very first birthday in our new home, and I wanted to make sure it was a celebration to remember. Ever since we moved, Rubi has been adjusting to her new surroundings, and I knew this birthday would be the perfect way to make her feel even more at home.
I spent the morning decorating the living room with colorful balloons and a “Happy Birthday” banner. Rubi watched me curiously, her tail wagging as she tried to figure out what all the fuss was about. She seemed to sense that something exciting was going on, and her energy filled the room with joy.
I made a special dog-friendly cake just for her, filled with all of her favorite ingredients. When I set it down in front of her, her eyes lit up, and she immediately started wagging her tail even faster. I sang “Happy Birthday,” and though Rubi didn’t know the words, she barked along happily, as if she understood the excitement of the moment.
After the cake, we spent the afternoon playing in the backyard, where Rubi got to chase her favorite ball and run around freely. It was clear that she was having the time of her life. Watching her play so joyfully in our new home made me feel so grateful to have her in my life.
As the day came to an end, Rubi curled up beside me, exhausted but content. She had her favorite toys around her and the warmth of her new home. This birthday was not only a celebration of her, but also a reminder of how much she has become a part of my family. Moving to a new home can be challenging, but Rubi’s presence has made it feel like the perfect place for us both.
