Poignant images from Wuhan, China, show a faithful dog lingering on the bridge where his owner took his own life by jumping into the river. According to reports, the dog followed his owner to the location on May 30, and remained there after the tragic event. A local man, identified by his surname Xu, noticed the dog resting by the railing and shared the touching images on social media. Xu expressed his desire to adopt the dog, but sadly, the loyal companion ran away before he could.
The loyal dog anxiously gazed out over the river from a section of the bridge, the same spot where local police later confirmed an unidentified individual had been seen jumping on the evening of May 30. Du Fan, Director of the Wuhan Small Animal Protection Association (Wuhan SAPA), came across Mr. Xu’s social media post and immediately organized a team of local volunteers to search for the missing dog. He also informed the media that the dog had followed its owner to the Yangtze Bridge that night. “We asked the bridge authorities to review the footage, but it was very dark and difficult to see clearly,” Du explained. “However, we could make out the person jumping from that spot.”
Mr. Xu and the volunteers are continuing their efforts to locate the dog. “It’s heartbreaking that such a faithful dog is now lost,” Xu said. The dog’s unwavering loyalty has moved many people on social media to tears. The reasons behind the owner’s tragic decision remain unclear.
