A tiny, injured puppy, estimated to be two or three months old, was discovered by a compassionate construction worker who immediately recognized the urgent need for help. The brave worker reached out to the small dog as it roamed the construction site in search of someone to provide assistance.
The worker promptly transported the injured dog to the Chicago Animal Care and Control shelter during lunch. Volunteers from the One Tail At A Time rescue organization quickly recognized the need for immediate medical attention and arranged for the puppy to see a veterinarian for a thorough examination.
The vet meticulously assessed the puppy and conducted necessary tests to determine the cause of the injuries. Due to a severe skin condition that caused his skin to swell and his legs to bulge, the puppy was given the name “Parmesan Crisp.”
Parmesan Crisp’s condition was dire; he was emaciated, had open sores on his skin, and appeared to be in constant discomfort. The puppy was diagnosed with juvenile cellulitis, an autoimmune disorder that requires ongoing treatment and care. To aid in his recovery, the veterinarian recommended medication, a nutritious diet, and ample rest.
Heather Owen, one of the co-founders of the rescue facility, expressed her optimism by stating, “With all these factors in place, we expect his condition to get better and his skin to heal over time.”
Despite the challenges he’s faced, Parmesan Crisp is showing remarkable resilience and determination. In his foster home, he is getting the thorough care and necessary treatment to speed up his recovery. This brave little dog, who was likely either born as a stray or abandoned by someone indifferent, has already endured a great deal in his short life.
What’s most important right now is that Parmesan Crisp is on the path to full recovery and has the opportunity to enjoy a loving and nurturing life. With the right medical care, dedication, and plenty of affection, he is expected to fully heal and lead a normal life.
