Every dog deserves love, yet sadly, not all receive the care and affection they need, especially those born with disabilities or unique traits that make them appear different. These dogs often face abandonment and are left to survive on their own.
However, Chupacabra, a bulldog and Rottweiler mix, found a fortunate turn of events. Three years ago, Kaley Carlyle, an experienced dog rescuer, learned about this special pup from his mother’s owner. Initially aiming to find him a loving home and necessary medical care, Kaley ended up adopting him herself. She named him Chupacabra, or Chupey, after the mythical creature from Mexican folklore. Despite her decade of rescuing dogs, Kaley had never encountered a puppy quite like him.
Chupey, with his almost non-existent fur, small eyes, curled ears, large teeth, and big lips, seems to have a permanent smile that charmed Kaley instantly. His unusual appearance, caused by an extra chromosome, did not hinder his zest for life. His spirit remained undampened, and he continued to thrive with a joyful demeanor.
Three years later, Chupey is still radiantly happy. He not only enriches Kaley’s life but also supports other special-needs dogs and those with unique appearances. He is a loving companion to Kaley’s daughter, Carson, and stands as a beacon of hope and joy.
