Todd, a brave golden retriever, has been widely praised for his heroic act in protecting his owner from a venomous rattlesnake in Arizona, as reported by Fox News. On June 29, Todd’s owner, Paula Godwin, took to Facebook to share the incident, posting several photos of Todd’s swollen face after the ordeal.
The incident occurred while Paula was walking on a trail in Arizona. Just as she was about to step on a rattlesnake, Todd sprang into action, rushing to her side and taking the bite himself. “Todd jumped right in front of me. That’s when he got bitten. He cried out, and I immediately picked him up and ran down the hill with my other dog, Copper. We reached the hospital within 10 minutes, where he was quickly treated with antivenom and remained for about 12 hours. Todd saved me from being bitten. He is truly my hero,” Paula recounted.
Paula mentioned that she was well aware of the potential danger of encountering rattlesnakes in her area, but this particular snake was nearly impossible to see. “I’m a native Arizonan, and I’m fully aware of the risks and very conscious of my surroundings. This snake, however, was completely camouflaged. It was a white rattlesnake with gray spots, blending in perfectly with the road,” Paula explained.
The photos of Todd’s snakebite quickly gained attention on social media. Paula also shared that Todd is on the mend and recovering well.
