An animal rescue group in Las Vegas, Nevada, has teamed up with an anonymous donor to increase the reward to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for abandoning a dog in a taped-shut plastic container on July 26. The dog, found behind a grocery store on the 1100 block of East Twain Avenue near South Maryland Parkway, was discovered in a container with an internal temperature of 110 degrees. Named Reba, the English bulldog was rushed to an emergency veterinarian where she was given IV fluids, oxygen, and plasma infusions, but unfortunately, her condition remained critical. Despite efforts to save her, Reba suffered a cardiac arrest due to severe heat stroke and shock, ultimately passing away.

Two weeks have passed with no significant leads, prompting animal advocates nationwide to rally for justice. Over 48 billboards have been erected around the city to urge the public to come forward with information. LVMPD Sergeant William Gethoefer has issued a plea for community tips to aid in the investigation. Nevada law stipulates that those convicted of animal cruelty could face up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call 702.660.8970 or email [email protected]. Additional contacts include Crime Stoppers at 702.385.5555 and the animal cruelty tip line at 702.828.3364. The rescue group vows to continue fighting for justice in Reba’s name, honoring her memory and raising awareness to prevent future incidents of animal cruelty.
