In Syracuse, New York, a senior dog named Max was found on Thursday at Schiller Park, tied to a picnic table with a note that read, “He was a good boy.” The note also detailed his age and the need for assistance:
“I am a good boy. I’m about 17 years old. My name is Max. My owners can’t take care of me anymore. Please help me.”
On a particularly hot day, Max was left with minimal shelter under a gazebo. He was found emaciated and dehydrated, but Good Samaritans provided him with water, which he drank eagerly. Cuse Pit Crew responded to a call from Syracuse Animal Control and stepped in to assist.
Cuse Pit Crew highlighted the importance of their services on social media, emphasizing their willingness to help pet owners without judgment. They aim to prevent situations like Max’s from happening again and encouraged those in need to reach out via email at [email protected].
Max was taken by Syracuse Police to Beaver Lake Animal Hospital for emergency care. He has since been transferred to Humane CNY, where he is receiving treatment for eye and ear infections and managing arthritis. Despite his health issues, including chronic ear infections that have left his ears permanently damaged, Max has shown a lively and curious nature and has been enjoying his time at the shelter.
Currently, efforts are underway to find Max a foster home. The community’s support has been invaluable, and Max’s soulful eyes express gratitude for all the help received.
The police quickly identified and arrested a suspect on charges of abandonment and cruelty. With the suspect having been surrendered, the focus now remains on ensuring Max receives the care he needs and deserves.
