Someone alerted Kokkachi Shelter about a small dog with a stomach wound. The volunteers went to check on him outside the cave but had no equipment to capture him.
They went back to the shelter to gather the necessary supplies, including cloth, milk, and a bag. When they returned to the cave, the dog had not come out. They left a bowl of milk outside and waited for a few hours.
Eventually, the dog emerged from the cave, which had been barricaded with wooden blocks. The team captured him, wrapped him in a towel, and took him to a veterinary clinic in Calicut.
The rescue effort was difficult because he repeatedly retreated into the cave whenever they tried to catch him. Due to the cave’s vast size, it took a while to finally capture him.
The veterinary clinics were closed for the holiday, but they eventually found a compassionate doctor, Dr. Shihabudheen, who offered to provide all the necessary treatments at no cost.
They brought the dog to Kokkachi Shelter for care, and he was welcomed as part of the Kokkachi family.
He recovered rapidly and soon was brimming with energy. The entire shelter staff was smitten with him the moment they met him, especially captivated by his beautiful eyes.
The dog is now in great health and delights in every moment with his human companions, but this beautiful puppy still needs a forever home.
