Maggie, a 5-year-old dog, is nothing short of a miracle, having triumphed over numerous hardships to live a full life. She survived being shot 17 times, found a forever home, and has now become a registered therapy dog.
Her story of courage and resilience began in Lebanon. Maggie was found with one ear cut off and her mouth shattered, tied to a box. She endured torture and was shot 17 times with a shotgun while pregnant, which led to complete blindness.
In Lebanon, a concerned individual spotted the distressed dog and reached out on social media for help. After seeing the plea, a woman in London reached out to The Wild At Heart Foundation. Maggie was rescued and, after undergoing surgeries and treatments, was put up for adoption. She eventually found her forever family in Brighton, England.
Kasey Carlin, 25, is the owner of Maggie, a YouTube star with over 248,000 followers on Instagram. Kasey left her job as a dog walker to focus entirely on managing Maggie’s Instagram account.
“She has imparted countless lessons to me and others; her values are clear because we’ve learned them firsthand. Yet, she continues to remind me of them every day: don’t judge a book by its cover, love conquers all, be humble, live life to the fullest, serve others, create your own happiness, and believe you can achieve anything. Kasey shared with Bored Panda, ‘Every day, she inspires me to strive for improvement and reach greater goals.'”
Maggie recently became a therapy dog, visiting hospitals, nursing homes, and colleges, where her presence brings a sense of calm and happiness to everyone she meets. At home, she has captured the hearts of her owners and Kasey’s other dog, Mishka.
Kasey reflects, “I’m amazed every day by the number of people who are part of her story. For a long time, no one cared for her, and when I chose to foster her, it was because no one else would. I’m overjoyed that she can now spread such an important message to the world.”
