According to Pitiful Animal, Phoenix is among the five most severe cases they have ever rescued. When the team discovered Phoenix, she was in a dire situation, lying alone in a desolate field with her body emaciated.
She was overrun by countless ants that were crawling all over her, causing her immense suffering. Unable to stand or move, she cried out in pain, lying unnoticed on the curb.
We were astonished by how anyone could be so indifferent to an abandoned pet. Phoenix didn’t even get a chance to eat the food before I had to remove the ants from her. After that, I put Phoenix in the car and headed straight to the hospital.
Shortly after, medical specialists examined her and cautioned that she could be suffering from cancer and a pelvic fracture. Her body temperature was unusually low, she was anemic, and severely malnourished. Phoenix underwent two tests, and unfortunately, both results were unfavorable.
Initially, doctors used serum infusion along with medications to regulate her body temperature. Over time, they opted for a long-term solution involving blankets and heaters. Phoenix often experienced convulsions and struggled to control her movements, indicating possible nerve damage.
Before the nurse could give her a bath, Phoenix had already been at the hospital for two months. The dedicated medical team, also working against the odds, was giving her attentive care.
We were thrilled to see Phoenix thriving and relieved that there were no thoughts of ending her life.
Phoenix underwent a three-month transformation. She emerged slim, vibrant, and in excellent health. Most notably, she is now living a wonderful life that many other animals can only dream of.
