Every dog in a shelter dreams of finding their forever home, but adoption isn’t always straightforward despite the best efforts of shelters. Some animals endure long waits and multiple failed attempts before finding the perfect match.

Ronald’s story, marked by a notably unfortunate series of 14 failed adoption attempts, was shared last week. However, his perseverance paid off, and this sweet dog has finally found a loving home!

On January 11th, the Wake County SPCA shared Ronald’s story with the public. Although he weighs only 63 pounds, Ronald is a “big boy” with a strong, muscular frame, which might have made him “too large” for some homes, particularly those with young children. They believe that Ronald’s impressive size contributed to his numerous unsuccessful adoption attempts.

They also described Ronald as a “large puppy” who, when excited or feeling “a bit mouthy,” would stand on his hind legs and place his front paws on you.

Despite Ronald possibly being a bit “too much” for some families, the SPCA remained confident that there was someone out there who would find him to be the perfect companion.

According to the SPCA, Ronald is a very good boy who accepts praise gratefully and usually follows commands. He loves receiving compliments and showing off his skills, making him quick to learn and adapt well to any situation.

Fortunately, Ronald’s situation improved swiftly. After his story went viral and numerous people showed interest in adopting him, the shelter was overwhelmed with adoption requests.

Samantha Ranlet, a spokesperson for the SPCA, told WRAL, “He will soon escape his unfortunate circumstances. We are currently dealing with a significant workload issue.”

The SPCA swiftly shared the remarkable news, declaring, “Ronald’s streak of bad luck has officially come to an end.”

The organization noted, “His new family reports that he is thriving with the children, who are absolutely enamored with him.” They shared recent family photos and discussed how well Ronald has settled in with his new family.

After 14 failed attempts, Ronald has finally found success with his adoption. The SPCA was thrilled by the wonderful news and the overwhelming support for Ronald.

On Facebook, they expressed their gratitude: “Thank you so much for sharing Ronald’s story. Your generous offers of help and encouraging comments have deeply moved us. The widespread sharing of his story reached approximately one million people on the first day, dramatically transforming his situation. We are continually amazed by the incredible impact you can have from your keyboards to change someone’s life!”

We’re thrilled that Ronald has finally found his forever home and that his streak of misfortune is over. Share the wonderful news with everyone!
