The dog, whose ears were torn off, simply desires affection and a permanent loving home.

After a dog suffered a brutal attack by two other dogs, Greenville County Animal Care urgently requested a volunteer to transport the injured canine to a veterinary clinic.

Legend, a dog, was lucky to be saved thanks to the quick action of two women. While walking, they heard a commotion coming from a house and upon investigating, found two Pit bulls attacking another dog. Intervening, they called animal control who took all three canines to Greenville County Animal Care.

Upon first sight of Legend, Alexay found him drenched in blood with numerous bite wounds across his torso. His left ear had been severed, and his right ear dangled by a thread.

According to Rizzo, speaking to The Greenville News, the man’s puncture wounds were visible across his shoulders and front. As he moved, blood actively streamed from several severe injuries.

The emergency vet was unsure of his survival, she revealed. While X-rays showed no fractures, the cumulative impact of everything proved overwhelming for his tiny body. She added, ‘A small body can only endure so much.’

Legend, however, proved to be a resilient survivor. He underwent multiple surgeries, received fluids, and required a feeding tube over several days. Eventually, his condition began to improve.

Several days later, his wounds had deteriorated, but he steadily regained health. Rescue Dogs Rock NYC intervened to help cover his mounting medical costs.

“We are thrilled with how things turned out and so thankful he’s alive,” said Jackie O’Sullivan, co-founder of the group. “His story is amazing, and he’s made a significant difference.”

Despite missing both ears and having scars, Legend possesses normal hearing and a heart full of joy. His greatest joy is kissing Fran, and his tail never stops wagging.

“Judging a book by its cover might cause you to overlook a remarkable story,” Fran commented about Legend. “He’s the most affectionate pet I’ve ever had,” she added. “He’s constantly asking for hugs and kisses.”

Fran expresses that she contemplates keeping Legend daily due to their strong bond. However, she acknowledges she can no longer foster for Greenville County Animal Care, an organization urgently in need of fosters.

Fran hopes her story inspires others to foster for Greenville County Animal Care, whose foster program is in desperate need of support.

Meanwhile, Fran and Rescue Dogs Rock NYC are diligently searching for the ideal home for Legend.
