In every shelter, amidst the multitude of dogs encountered by staff, there is always one that distinguishes itself.
Upon her acceptance into the Douglas County Animal Shelter, Beautiful Matilda’s upbeat and eager nature immediately caught the attention of the staff. Her distinctive demeanor ensured that she was quickly adopted upon arrival at the shelter.
The doctors at the shelter were pleasantly surprised, considering the challenges Matilda had faced in her early months.
Found at just two months old, Matilda arrived at the shelter suffering from skin irritation and a worm infestation, having lived her entire short life as a stray on the streets of Georgia.
Nevertheless, despite these hardships, Matilda maintained a resiliently positive attitude, her tail wagging incessantly.
Santina Sanders, a volunteer, informed The Dodo that the woman in question gave the “most amazing kisses,” describing her as the cutest thing ever.
Matilda also captured the hearts of Pibbles & More Animal Rescue with her interactions with other animals. Sanders wasn’t the sole observer of Matilda’s delightful demeanor.
One of the organization’s directors, Teresa Bowles-Chiofalo, formed a deep connection with the exuberant and cheerful Matilda during her time at the shelter. Impressed by Matilda’s infectious joy and positive energy, Bowles-Chiofalo made the heartfelt decision to rescue the dog from the shelter and arrange for her placement with a loving foster family. The day Matilda’s foster father arrived to take her home was a testament to her boundless happiness. Throughout the entire hour and a half journey, Matilda’s tail wagged incessantly, a clear display of her excitement and gratitude for her newfound opportunity for love and care.
Matilda’s enthusiastic tail wagging caused her to sway as she walked. Despite her friendly demeanor, Matilda had a strong aversion to collars. Rich, her foster father, noticed that she stopped wagging her tail as soon as he attempted to put a collar on her, indicating her clear dislike for it.
Despite her aversion to the collar, the lovable dog finds joy in everything else about her new home. She delights in playing with her toys, bonding with her foster siblings, and eagerly assisting her human brother with his schoolwork. Matilda often makes cheerful visits to her human brother’s side at home, eagerly offering her support with his tasks.
