On his way home from a run, a man noticed a malnourished, small cat in a nearby parking lot and promptly offered assistance. When his offer was rejected, he decided to take a drastic action. Newsweek interviewed him to uncover more details.
Tim, also known as Reddit user NocturnalThree, recounted in a July 2 post on the subreddit r/OneOrangeBraincell his experience rescuing a cat. However, what began as a rescue mission ultimately turned into a case of theft.
It’s important to note that stealing is never justified, regardless of the circumstances involving an animal. Those who engage in theft may encounter safety risks or legal consequences. Instead, if you suspect an animal is being mistreated, it’s advisable to seek assistance and guidance from a local animal welfare organization.
According to Tim’s post, the small orange cat was being fed beef jerky, chicken, and dirty water by the security workers at the parking lot. Recognizing that these food items were neither sustainable nor healthy for cats, Tim provided wet food instead. He later returned to the site to speak with the owner, offering to provide a better home for the cat.
According to the Reddit post, despite my attempts to offer him money, he remained adamant about not giving me the cat. He justified starving the cat intentionally to catch mice in the parking lot, but I found that hard to believe—after all, he’s smaller than a rat.
The conversation dragged on for an hour before Tim stealthily took the cat without the owner’s notice, placed it in his bag, and swiftly left the scene.
Worried about his cat’s health, Tim rushed it to the nearest vet. Thankfully, the vet found no major issues, just severe malnourishment.
