A 20-year-old terrier mix, Tessa fiercely guards her loved ones, especially her mother. However, her most prized possession isn’t a fancy bone or squeaky toy, but a simple banana made of cloth and stuffing. Despite its ordinary materials, Tessa holds it dear and demands similar respect from everyone else.
Shanna Loren, Tessa’s mother, bought the banana five years ago after another dog damaged Tessa’s beloved toy. Loren shared with The Dodo, “I found it discarded in a pet store trash can, but I knew it matched the size of a toy she adored.” “The moment I gave it to her, she embraced the banana.” Now, Tessa proudly showcases her banana to visitors, expecting them to honor her cherished toy.
Loren clarified that Tessa prefers everyone to take notice of it before she sets it aside, and when she does, she places it in the most comfortable bed available.
Puppies are persistent about their bananas; don’t let age or hearing loss hinder their determination. Loren instructed others to inform Tessa when they see her bananas so she can relax. It’s amusing how our friends now shout, “I love your bananas, Tessa!” despite her deafness.
Tessa believes that one is never too old to sleep with their beloved cuddly toy.
“It’s never been just a ‘toy’ to her,” Loren elaborated. “It’s her only possession, her entire world.”
