The Save Elephant Foundation in Thailand, renowned for its dedication to rescuing and caring for elephants, extends its compassion to other animals in need. When they encountered Namtan, their hearts went out to her dire condition and they knew immediate intervention was crucial to save her life. Namtan was discovered lying on the sidewalk, her snout gruesomely hanging from her face, likely severed with a machete or knife. This horrific act of cruelty left her in excruciating pain and in urgent need of medical attention.
Eating became a daunting task for her, and the scarcity of food was so dire that she resorted to consuming her own feces to survive.
Securing a veterinarian willing to perform the crucial life-saving surgery for Namtan posed a significant challenge for her rescuers. Many veterinarians hesitated, citing the complexity of the procedure due to the considerable time that had elapsed since her injury.
