Heartbreaking: A scared and shut-down puppy is being returned to the shelter by its foster family

At the BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas, hopes of restoring the trust of an 11-month-old puppy in people are dwindling. Two weeks ago, Scarlett’s foster parents rescued her, but they now admit they do not have the expertise needed to help a dog so fearful and withdrawn.

Upon her arrival at the shelter on May 10, 2023, Scarlet, a 45-pound Labrador retriever mix identified as a stray, instinctively sought refuge in a shelter corner, declining offerings of treats and visibly trembling whenever approached.

The dog faced a scheduled execution on May 15, but a BARC foster stepped in just in time to save her. Now back with us, Scarlet is not to blame; she simply hasn’t yet realized that kindness may be offered by everyone. We are in need of a seasoned foster caregiver who can provide the necessary care for animals like Scarlet.

Please help spread the word about her situation to your social media connections, family members, close friends, and respected rescue agencies. Your efforts in sharing this information can make a significant impact in saving lives. Every share has the potential to make a difference and bring about positive outcomes for those in need.
