Lily Kwan, aged 10, and Macy, also 10, were walking in their Toronto neighborhood when they encountered a coyote, which was caught on camera.
Lily started shouting for assistance and then released Macy’s leash to seek help from a neighbor. Macy courageously fought off the coyote to protect Lily. Lily told News 6 reporters that she ran to the street and called for help, but her calls went unanswered. She recounted how she saw a coyote attempting to attack Macy and urgently knocked on doors and rang doorbells, with only one neighbor responding by opening their door.
Dorothy Kwan initiated a GoFundMe campaign to raise $10,000 for Lily’s procedure. The campaign swiftly surpassed this target and is now approaching $38,500, just $2,000 shy of their revised goal.
According to Dorothy, speaking to News 6, “My dog will go to any lengths for our family, so I’m not surprised she acted heroically.” Macy is our young heroine.
She added, “I never expected a coyote to appear during daylight, especially with someone yelling and shouting.” “Despite our efforts to scare it away, it relentlessly attacked Macy and our dog; it was incredibly aggressive.”
