Pilot flies a terminally ill shelter dog 400 miles to spend her final days with a loving family

Given only a few weeks to live, she was flown 400 miles to her adoptive family, ensuring her final days were spent with them.

Unfortunately, not every animal in a shelter finds a happy ending. A few months ago, an animal shelter in North Carolina learned that Ashlyn, a gentle senior dog, had been diagnosed with cancer.

Despite the short time left for the unfortunate four-legged friend, a pilot ensured her final days were filled with love.

Ashlyn initially realized something was wrong when she went through a period of depression. After being diagnosed with cancer, she became too weak to run or play, leaving her feeling utterly drained.

The dog had only a short time left to live, and the shelter couldn’t arrange her transport quickly enough. However, a miraculous intervention by one man turned the situation around.

Paul Steklenski, the director of Flying Fur Animal Rescue and a seasoned pilot, promised to get Ashlyn to her destination as quickly as possible.

The sweet four-legged friend thoroughly enjoyed the flight.

Paul Steklenski shared some heartwarming photos of himself and Ashlyn soaring through the skies, capturing the moment with incredible charm. Although Ashlyn initially needed a few minutes to adjust to the breeze, it was clear she was relishing the experience. To comfort her during the flight, Paul rewarded her with dog treats whenever she seemed uneasy.

Witnessing how much more joyful Ashlyn appeared compared to the past few weeks, Paul was moved to tears during the flight.

Years ago, Paul decided to merge his two passions for flying and animal welfare. Since founding Flying Fur Rescue, he has been dedicated to transporting animals to new homes.

When Ashlyn finally arrived and met her new family, her smile returned. Tracy Lancer, a kind and caring woman, took Ashlyn into her care, ensuring she would receive plenty of love and attention. Tracy was deeply surprised to see Ashlyn in such poor condition.

With Tracy’s care, Ashlyn regained her health, receiving the best medical attention and lots of affection.

Although Ashlyn was given only a few weeks to live, she is now thriving.

In fact, it’s remarkable how much she has transformed. Both her emotional and physical well-being are flourishing. Ashlyn has once again become a vibrant puppy full of potential.
