Each time I witness another dog in distress, my heart shatters a bit more. It’s a painful reminder that cruelty towards these innocent creatures persists, and it’s our responsibility to stay vigilant and take action.
But Moises’ story struck me deeply. This poor soul was left stranded for hours on the side of the road after a few compassionate strangers rescued him from a water well. How he ended up in such a dire situation is a tale that could bring even the strongest among us to tears.
Hanging by a Thread
When local rescuer Serafina received a photo of Moises from the good Samaritans who had found him, she froze. The situation was dire.
This poor black dog had been hit by a truck, and rather than offering aid, someone cruelly tossed him into a water well to be forgotten.
Despite suffering multiple severe injuries, Moises defied the odds and clung to life. For hours, he languished in the well, hoping someone would hear his silent plea. Fortunately, a few compassionate individuals discovered him and quickly contacted Serafina for help.
“The neighbors managed to pull him out of the well where he’d been trapped since 6 a.m. They sent me his picture along with his heartbreaking story,” Serafina shared on Facebook. However, when she arrived, the true gravity of Moises’ condition hit her. He was far worse off than she’d imagined—unable to lift his head or move a muscle.
Serafina carefully placed Moises on a stretcher and transported him to her car, rushing him straight to an animal hospital.
Unfortunately, his condition was just as dire as feared. Moises had sustained multiple fractures, was severely malnourished, and, to make matters worse, suffered from bladder issues.
Despite everything he had endured, Moises remained incredibly gentle. There wasn’t a hint of aggression in him—only a deep, sorrowful kindness reflected in his eyes.
After undergoing a successful surgery, Moises was fitted with a urinary catheter to aid his recovery. His journey toward healing was far from over, but he was finally on the path to a better life.
A Year Later, Moises is Thriving
The journey was long and demanding, with countless vet visits, physiotherapy sessions, and home exercises, but Serafina and Moises persevered. Months of dedication paid off, and today, Moises is unrecognizable from the frail, injured dog he once was.
Though he still deals with chronic bladder issues, Moises has made a remarkable recovery. He’s back on his paws, full of life, and looking healthier than ever. With the help of a carefully crafted meal plan, Serafina helped him gain healthy weight, and now Moises radiates strength and happiness.
These days, he joyfully wags his tail and goes on daily walks with Serafina, embracing each moment with enthusiasm. His transformation is nothing short of miraculous, but there’s still one piece missing—a forever home.
Serafina is hopeful that the perfect family will soon come along to offer him the love and stability he deserves. Moises is more than ready to be someone’s loyal companion, a source of comfort, and a lifelong friend.
After everything he’s endured, this sweet boy is finally ready for his happily-ever-after. And he’s more than earned it.
